Wedding Themes

Sue Campbell

Are you searching for a theme for your wedding but you’re not really sure what your style is? Here are a few favourites, and a few curve balls to inspire you!

Rustic Chic

A rustic chic wedding is all about natural elements such as wood, burlap and lace, with delicate floral arrangements in seasonal tones, and twinkling fairy lights or candles. This theme is perfectly suited to barns or outdoor venues, with peronalised touches such as hand-made wedding favours and a DIY photo booth.

Modern Glam

This look is all about sleek sophistication, clean lines, metallic accents and bold colours. Strong geometric shapes on invitations, seating plans and table settings, modern floral arrangements with bold blooms such as dahlias or peonies. This theme is perfect for rooftop venues or modern metropolitan settings.

Boho Vibes

Boho weddings are for free spirits, with a laid-back atmosphere. Think dreamcatchers, macrame and feathers, flowers in your hair and loose, flowing fabrics. Perfect for beach or garden weddings.

Timeless Elegance

For historic venues such as a mansion, stately home or ballroom, timeless elegance could be the perfect theme. Understated glamour, with lace, pearls and soft pastels and classis floral arrangements featuring lilies or roses.

Outside the box themes

Star Wars – groomsmen dressed as storm troopers, a Princess Leah style wedding gown, an arch of light sabres rather than sparklers when you leave the reception.

Halloween – pumpkins, autumn tones, cobwebs, hanging candles or black and orange paper lanterns.

Zombie apocalypse or alien autopsy – I kid you not, do a quick internet search and you will find examples of all of these and more.

No matter what theme you choose, let your wedding be a reflection of your personalities and your love story. Don’t be afraid to get creative and add your own personal touches.
